Helpful information ...
Web page as it should be
1. Security
First and foremost, the website should be resistant as much as possible to potential malicious attacks, which can do a lot of damage. All from illegal acquirement of your customers' personal information, price changes, to deleting parts of the content or the entire website. Unfortunately no system is 100% safe, which has been many times proven by so-called hackers. However, you can significantly improve your security if your system is not set up on an open-source system (such as WordPress, Joomla, osCommerce, etc.). The problem with these systems is that anyone can work with them and get to know them in details, so their weak points get discussed everywhere, even on forums.
When it comes to security, it is worth to mention the secure https protocol, which not only help to secure your site, but it also helps with optimization. Google search engine ranks https pages higher than the http ones. Https protocol is used for secure online communication. The motivation behind it is to authenticate the visited web site and to protect the privacy and integrity of the exchanged data.
Online stores as well as other web pages that manage delicate information, such as personal information and credit card information, in addition need security certificates to protect you as well as your clients.
2. Business adapted
Your web page is the online equivalent of a physical establishment. And just like the interior of the bank is not suitable for a toy store and the outlook of the car dealership is not suitable for the wellness salon, the same goes for web pages meant to represent different businesses. It is self-evident, but you would be surprised at how many people blindly follow the latest trends, without even thinking how to utilize them in favor of their own services.
Of course, the right choosing of the colors goes a long way, but that is far from everything you need to be mindful of. It is also important to take into account the psychological state your clients are in, when they visit your website and in what kind of emotional state they are more likely to buy your product or service.
For example, if you are a lawyer or accountant, it is more than likely that your visitors will be in need of help with matters that are basically unpleasant and stressful for them. Consequently, you have a much greater chance of the customer actually purchasing the service from you, if your page invokes a feeling of calm security and a sense of high professionalism and trust in them.
Of course you want to achieve the opposite effect if you are promoting sports, fitness or other kinds of physical activity. In these cases your website will have a greater chance of success if it gives its visitors the impression of action, fun and excitement.
We can achieve this desired emotional reactions with the combination and use of colors, style and frequency of moving elements, sharpness or softness of lines, the size and the aggressiveness or subtleness of individual elements, density of information, the size and the typography of the text …
But on the other hand, be careful not to get caught up in the trap of playing it to safe and not braking any of the rules. This will result in flying under the radar amongst the grayness of your competition, where nobody will notes you, much less remember you. This may be the greatest danger when you choose a pre-designed web site design template, even if it is the latest fashion trend. All that being said, we would advise you, that when you truly want to make a lasting impression on the market, you should leave the designing of both, the website and the overall graphic identity of your company to a professional designer, who will be able to capture both the right atmosphere for your type of business as well as your individual signature to the market.
3. Responsive
With the rise of portable devices, such as tablets and smartphones, the need for web pages that response to the screen size on which they are viewed, has become essential. It is very important, that you ensure your visitors and potential customers with the perfect access to your content, no matter which device they are using. Our modern lifestyle dictates, that all information is readily available to us at all times. Wireless internet is practically on every corner, and mobile data has long been a part of mobile package plans. Thus, nonresponsive website has long since become a part of the past and gives the immediate outdated impression, regardless of its otherwise modern design.
However, it is not always necessary for the whole content to be shown on all screen sizes as well on the mobile devices as on the laptop. When it comes to more comprehensive websites with lots of content, that is to say the least impractical if not impossible. Such a website would not be user-friendly on smaller devices. In such cases, we need to assess what content is essential for our visitors and focus on that. Other, less essential parts can be added in form of various dropdown or expand functions or it can be omitted altogether and reserved for wider screen devices only.
4. Speed
The loading speed of your webpage is extremely important. A today consumer doesn't want to wait several seconds for the webpage content to fully load. The statistics have shown that we only have about three seconds to convince our visitor that our website is worth of checking out, and that is with the loading time included. A slow web page is testing the already fragile patience of the modern consumer and is therefore largely responsible for the so-called bounce rate. This means that a visitor leaves the site without even walking around to see its content.
To increase the speed, a web page should be free of redundant code. This accumulation is often a by-product of over-standardized pre-assembled systems, which are designed to minimize the input that goes in each web site and maximize profits. With this kind of websites, it is virtually impossible to later add or change anything, or it is very time consuming and therefore associated with disproportionately high costs.
Speed wise you can go a step further with the minimized code. A minimized code is a code that has been stripped of all irrelevant characters, such as spaces, new lines, comments... without changing the functionality of the code. This way, we enable minimal data transfer from the website. This means faster loading and faster function.
You can also help to make your site work faster by making sure all the images on the page are optimized. This means that the size of the uploaded image is as small as possible, to the point that they still retain their visual quality.
5. User-friendly
Beware of the allure of the aesthetically perfected web pages that are worthy of a show gallery, if your visitors cannot navigate it. Just like with the slow working webpage, the same goes for confusing one. Consumers just don't have patience to figure out what to click or where to go next, so they go away before they can get to know the excellent offer you have prepared for them.
It should be evident, right of the back, what you have to offer to a potential customer. The main menu must have clearly named subpages That way the visitor immediately knows what to click and what kind of information the link will lead them to. If at all possible, avoid multilevel menus. But of course that is not always possible, especially with larger online shops.
Keep in mind that there are certain type of elements that people expect on certain arias of the page (main menu above and/or left, logo top left or top center, contact details in the footer and/or header, blog archive on the right ...). If they cannot easily find this kind of elements, it is very unlikely that they will look for them. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of room for creativity and individual expression of your company. But do not overdo it. Remember, even the tastiest stuff can make you sick if you do not know when to stop.
Think carefully where you want to channel your visitor's attention. Do not confuse and misdirect their focus with moving elements that do not have any special purpose, except to divert attention away from the main message. User-friendly websites is one which is designed in a way that constantly directs its visitor to the main purpose of the page and ultimately leads them to a successful purchase or other desired positive action.
6. Selling and call for action
Now that you have given your visitor a high-quality presentation of what you are offering, it's time to change a visitor to a customer. Do this with strategically placed buttons and forms that encourage a potential customer to simply make the next step and contact you, leave their e-mail or make the purchase. Do not let all your hard work to go to waste just because the customer is left cold searching for your contact or where can they now buy all those wonderful products. Take them by the hand and gently bring them to a positive conclusion of the whole experience.
Buttons calling for action like (in the cart, send me an offer, send me a free sample ...) should be designed to stand out and make sure to be noticed by the potential customer. But make sure to avoid aggressive animations or strong blinking action, as they can trigger subconscious association to various online scams and deter a potential customer from clicking on them.
Now all that is left, is your own action. Armed with new information and fresh inspiration all that is left to do is for you to set up your own online project. And we will be honored, if we can help you with that.
